Fox does pathetic anti-living wage hack job
By THOMAS REICH | OCT 03, 2018
As we all know, Amazon is raising its minimum wage to $15 an hour, and on top of that, they'll lobby for a higher minimum wage. I don't need to tell you how great this is.
But who could be opposed to this?
Who could possibly be opposed to something that 200 accredited economists and most Americans support?
Who would have the arrogance and the disregard for the will of the people to oppose this?
Oh right, Fox.
Fox's Elaine Parker wrote an abortion of an article, in which she totally owns the libs by citing a study over Seattle's gradual minimum wage increase to $15 an hour, and talking about how "devastating" it was. (I'm not even kidding - she actually called it "devastating.")
Unfortunately for her, however, I actually bothered to click the link. Turns out the results were by no stretch of the imagination "devastating."
Now, the study did find an ever-so-slight reduction in employment, not significant enough to be considered "devastating." Keep in mind, in the summary, the authors state that the study does "not necessarily reveal the full effect of the minimum wage increases on individual workers." They even say that they were gonna expand the study in the future and examine how it effects productivity.
As for the employment reduction, I would say that this is variation. I say this because according to a study from last month over minimum wage increases in six cities (including Seattle), increasing the minimum wage has no "significant negative employment effects." They even found a 1.1% employment gain.
Let me repeat. Raising the minimum wage boosts pay and even increases jobs.
The only "devastating" thing here, Elaine, is your anti-populist, anti-worker propaganda.
